We are the Cancer Partnership Group for Lancashire and South Cumbria
We're made up of people who are either current or former patients, carers, partners or family members of someone who has been affected by cancer and healthcare workers who provide cancer services.
Our Group was set up, as many others have been across England, to ensure that the views of people using cancer services are being heard.
We work together, in partnership, with the shared aim of improving cancer services through shaping them at a local, regional and national level.
We were formed in October 2001; but we have new patients and carers joining all the time and we have the support of our host NHS organisation, Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network.
The Cancer Network recognises there is no one better to listen to than those who have used or are currently using the services. Our first hand experience provides a valuable insight for cancer care professionals.

Engaging with our communities
We believe that the cancer services should reflect the needs of the population it serves, which is why we have supported the following projects to try and promote ourselves and gain more understanding of the difficulties other people face.
Engaging with the black and minority ethnic communities in East Lancashire
We are keen to engage with the black and minority ethnic communities in East Lancashire to ensure that when we engage with the NHS, we include their experience, views, opinions, suggestions and issues.
To that end, Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Network along with local and national partners are arranging an event in which we were able to meet with members from the communities and find a way to work together to improve the cancer services for the good of all.
Engaging with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities in Blackpool
Four evening events were held at Mardi Gras Nightclub in Blackpool to start conversations about cancer.
